AVOGARO ANGELO

Brief Narrative
Angelo Avogaro is Full Professor of Endocrinology & Metabolic Disease at the University of Padova since 2011. He is also chief of the Unit of Metabolic Disease at the University Hospital of Padova. He supervised 10 PhD students in the PhD program at University of Padova, and he graduated since 2001 more than 30 students. His main research activity is in the field of vascular biology in diabetes mellitus, heart disease in diabetes and, more recently, in the artificial pancreas. His research is supported by University of Padova, European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, Pharmaceutical companies, the Ministry of Health and Scientific Research, and European Community. He has published 334 publications in internationally refereed journals, co-author of 5 books. He is currently member of the Review Committee and Programme Board Meeting of the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes, member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of Diabetes and its Complications, Diabetes Care, and Diabetes, Obesity& Metabolism; Senior Editor di Diabetes & Nutrition. He has been a member of the scientific council of Italian Society for the Study of Diabetes, and he is a member of the Council of the Italian Society of Endocrinology and of Scientific Steering Committee of the Italian Society of Diabetes.
