The book encompasses 26 chapters by major international historians in a common efforts to reexamine from the point of view of Eastern and Western European countries and on the basis of newly released archival evidence how during the late years of the II world war and the early postwar period the hopes and attempts to rebuild a peaceful Europe failed and the Iron Curtain felt over Europe.
