Abstract:
The paper aims to examine the institutional response to combat male violence against women after
the visit of GREVIO, the Group of Experts on Violence against Women established under the
Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and
Domestic Violence, and the publication in January 2020 of the First GREVIO Baseline Evaluation
Report on Italy , very narrow to the Covid-SARS 19 event and crisis.
The adoption of extraordinary measures that the pandemic 'legitimized' by Government, also in
relation to the protection of women involved in situations of violence, highlighted the many
dysfunctions that systematically welfare systems at local level face in relation to the emerging
needs at societal level and the lack of public resources available. How some of the
recommendations for the Italian Government articulated in the First GREVIO Report have been
implemented and how the pandemic has intervened in the implementation of measures to support
and protect women while working on the structural levels of the phenomenon of violence will be
the objects of consideration in the paper.
