QUAGLIO FRANCESCO

Prof. Francesco Quaglio was born in Bologna (Italy) on June 14th, 1956.
In 1984, he obtained an M.D. degree in Veterinary Medicine with full marks at the University of Bologna.
He then passed the qualifying examination to be a professional veterinarian.
From 1987 until 1988 (16 months), he worked at the Center for the Study of Fish Pathology at the “Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale del Piemonte, Liguria e Valle d’Aosta”, in Turin (Italy), to be trained in ichthyopathology, application of health management protocols in fish farms, and prophylaxis, diagnosis and therapy of fish pathologies. In 1986, he was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Zootechnical Sciences.
In 1990, he worked at the Ichthyopathology Laboratory of the “Istituto Zooprofilattico delle Venezie” in Udine (Italy), where he conducted experiments on the pathology, prophylaxis and therapy in fish and shellfish breeding.
In the same year, he became researcher at the Zooculture Institute (Department of Food Science, since 2000) of the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bologna.
In 1991, he carried out research on aquaculture at the Animal Production Institute of the University of Udine.
From 1993 to 2004, he was member of the national directorate of the Italian Society of Fish Pathology.
In 2005, he became associated professor of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Padua (Italy) and from March 2006 he joined the Department of Public Health, Comparative Pathology and Veterinary Hygiene of the same Faculty.
Presently, he is participating in research projects regarding aquaculture and fish and shellfish pathology.
He is also teaching the same subjects in several university courses.
Prof. Quaglio is author (or co-author) of over one hundred scientific articles.
