BIASIN CHIARA

Chiara Biasin is full professor at the Department of Philosophy, Sociology, Pedagogy and Social Psychology (FISPPA) of the University of Padua, SSD MPED/01 General and Social Pedagogy. She graduated with honors in Pedagogy, and gained the Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies en Théories et Formes en Sciences de l'Éducation at the University of Strasbourg, two specialisations in Anthropology of Communication and Didactics of Writing at the University La Sapienza in Rome and a PhD in Pedagogy and Educational Sciences at the University of Padua. She has been a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Science della Formazione(1999-2002), Researcher (2002-2005) and Associate Professor (2005-2018). She was Honorary Senior Research Associate at the University College of London, Institute of Education (IOE), Department of Education (2013-2017), Lecturer and Adjunct Professor at the MERSE Master at the University of Rouen (2013-2014) and Visiting Professor at the following universities: Rouen (2010-2015), Lisbon (2010), Nancy (2012), London, Institute of Education, LLAKES Centre (2013-2016), Paris-Est Créteil (2015), Lille (2017, 2019), Sherbrooke (2017), Montréal (2017), Aarhus-Copenhagen (2018), Algarve (2019) Paris Nord Sorbonne (2023) Balearic Islands (2023). She has held various institutional and third mission positions: she was the president of the Bachelor of Science in Education and Training (2014-2022) and the rector's delegate for internships, principal investigator in national projects (MIUR project- POT Orientation and Tutoring Plans L19 (2017-18), MIUR Project- POT Orientation and Tutoring Plans L19 (2019-2020), ANVUR-TECO Project L19 (2018-2021), Padua University projects (University Teaching Improvement Project 2020, 2021) and member of FISPPA department committees (SID, calls and grants, VQR, Didactic and Teaching, Research).
In 2020, he was part of the working group "The APRE Network towards Horizon Europe" Cluster 2: Culture Creativity and Inclusive Society" for the University of Padua for the purpose of defining the first Horizon Europe Work Program and European Framework Program for Research and Innovation of the European Research Promotion Agency. Since 2007 she has been a member of the Teachers’ Board of the PhD Program in Pedagogical, Educational and Training Sciences at Padova University; in 2023, she was the coordinator of the PhD Program in Pedagogical, Educational and Training Science. She has served, as member and president, in selection committee and in the boards for the final PhD examination in Italy (universities of Padua, Ferrara, Florence) and in the French-speaking countries (universities of Rouen, Sherbrooke, Lyon, Normandie, CNAM Paris, Rennes).
She is a member of editorial committee and reviewer board committee in francophone journals (Phronesis, Chemin de Formation, Penser l'éducation), in international journals (EJHE, IJHR), in international series (at Springer, Editions de Lorraine, Champ Social, Sage) and in national journals and series (Carocci, FrancoAngeli, Unicopli, Mimesis, Edizioni Universitarie) and co-director of a scientific series ("Perspectives, Toolkits and Practices in Educational, Social and Community Contexts") with the editor Padua University Press. She was co-editor of thematic issues of Italian (Studium Educationis, Rivista Italiana di Educazione Familiare) and French-speaking journals (Phronesis, Recherche & Education, Spiral-Revue de recherche en éducation). She is a member of the European Society for Research on the Education of Adults (ESREA) and the Italian Society of Pedagogy (SIPED).
She has served on national selection committees for the recruitment of university positions of researcher and associate professor and on selection committees for preschool and primary school teaching positions. She was member of the Working Group ANVUR-MIUR "The APRE Network towards Horizon Europe" Cluster 2: Culture Creativity and Inclusive Society" for the University of Padua for the definition of the first Horizon Europe Work Program and European Framework Program for Research and Innovation (2020). She has been a member of scientific and symposium committees at Italian and European conferences, in the Laboratoire de recherche CIVIIC Université de Rouen (1997-2016), in the research group of the project "Life course transitions and Italian migrants in time of change and austerity" UCL London (2018-2019) and in the Laboratoire de recherche CIRNEF Université de Normandie (since 2016). She is the founder and the co-director of the research group Collectif Européen de Recherche-Action-Formation Appliqué aux Vulnerabilités (CERAFAV) and the principal investigator of the Adult Education Study Center (Centro Studi sull'Educazione degli Adulti - CEDA) of the University of Padua.
She has been/is scientific coordinator or director in projects funded by the European Union (Erasmus+ "Eurek Validation des compétences clés européennes (2016-2018); Erasmus+ "Acquiring Life Skills by Creative Teaching in VET" (2022-2024), from other countries (IFADEM-RETHE project, Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie 2015-2017) or supported by other entities (FSE Veneto Region EuroFacile project (1999-2001), Project Reconversione Opportunità Competenze Unindustria Treviso (2011-2013), Project Fuori Scuola-Ricomincio da Tre CPIA and Municipality of Padua (2019-2020), Project FSE Welfare community & Age management (2020), Project Il Servizio Civile Regionale Veneto: Developments and potentials Amesci - Veneto Region (2019-2021), Project LUCE Human Links in Educating Communities Project - Social Enterprise Con I Bambini (2022-2024). She participated in national PRIN projects (2007-2009), and she has been Principal investigator in Padua University -PRAT research projects "Tutorato Formativo: un modello di tutoring integrato per l'empowerment degli studenti universitari" (2016-2017) and "Riconoscimento e Valorizzazione delle Soft Skills e dei Saperi Tecnici appresi in situazioni di lavoro" (2018-2020). She is Principal investigator in the Third Missione and Public Engagement project of the University of Padua, Department FISPPA (Project Inclusione Sociale e Benessere delle Comunità 2022-2023; UNIMPRESA project Lifelong Learning and Social Action to Tackle Littering: Challenges and Modelling 2024-2025). At the University of Padua, she has taught work pedagogy, professional educational deontology, general pedagogy, general and social pedagogy, pedagogy of the life course, lifelong learning and lifelong education and in specialisation courses. She currently teaches adult education, lifelong learning and adult learning, general and school pedagogy in bachelor and master's degree courses. She has long-standing and established research partnerships with European colleagues and international researchers; she has organised conferences and seminars on the topics of her research and she has taken part in national and international congresses.
