BATTINI DARIA

Daria Battini is Full Professor of Industrial Systems and Logistics at the University of Padova since the May 2018. She is the Coordinator of the Doctoral Course in Mechatronics and Product Innovation Engineering since July 2018. Daria is currently the Coordinator of the H2020 RISE project MAIA (Grant Agreement No.873077) entitled "Models and Methods for an active ageing workforce: an International Academy" (years: 2020-2023). At the University of Padova she is Professor of Industrial Systems in the MSc in Industrial Engineering and of Industrial Logistics at the MSc in mechanical Engineering. She is the responsible of three ERASMUS agreements between Padova University and the DTU (Denmark), the TUM (Germany) and the Berlin School of Economics and Law(HWR). Daria Battini is an active member of IFAC and since 2017 she is Vice-chair for education of the TC 5.2 Manufacturing Modelling for Management and Control. She is also a member of AIDI and EUROMA. She teaches and conduct researches in the field of industrial logistics and supply chain management, industrial system design and management (including warehousing, picking and assembly systems), supply network mapping, modeling and optimization, ergonomics in material handling and in assembly, inventory management and product/process traceability. Her researches are published in several international journals, international conference proceedings, trade magazines, industry reports and newspapers. She published more than 120 scientific papers in International journals or in proceeding of International and national conferences Peer Reviewed. She is referee of relevant journals in the Supply Chain Management and Logistics Area. Daria is an Editorial Board Member of the Journal of Management Control, International Journal of Optimization and Control: Theories & Applications and the Int. Journal of Integrated Supply Management. She has guest-edited several special issues in the last 10 years, for the Journal of Management Control (JoMaC) and the International Journal of Production Economics. Since 2015 she has been chairman, co-chairman and session manager of several special session dediacted to the topic “Human factors and ergonomics in industrial and logistics system design and management”, in collaboration with F.Sgarbossa, P. Neumann, C.Glock e E.Grosse in IFAC congress (2017), INCOM conferences (2015-2018) and MIM conferences (2016 and 2019). She has been a member of the International Program Committee (IPC) of the 9th IFAC Conference MIM 2019, held in August 28-30, 2019 in Berlin. In 2008 she received from the Global Business and Innovation Development Conference 2008, Rio de Janeiro, 16-19 January 2008, the "Best Paper Award" for the pubblication "A single-vendor multi-buyer Consignment Stock inventory model" developed with Faccio M., Persona A., Sgarbossa F. In 2015 she received the Best Application Paper Award in the international conference INCOM 2015 for the paper “Assembly line balancing with ergonomics paradigms: two alternative methods” in collaboration with Delorme X., Dolgui A. e Sgarbossa F. Daria Battini has been scientific coordinator of two research project financed by the University of Padova (Progetto di Ateneo 2010-2012 and 2015-2017) and she participated to several national and international research projects. In particular in the years 2010-2012, she participated as a member of the Padova unit at the PRIN project entitled "Modellizzazione, simulazione e sperimentazione di reti logistiche innovative per la gestione dei farmaci nella sanità" and during this project she developed in collaboration with Prof. Alessandro Persona a new patent of an intelligent drug dispenser for hospitals (Patent Number N. 0001406093, patent date: 11 feb 2014). In 2013-2014, she participated in the European project “Implementation of the Liquid infusion in the Manufacturing of Aerospace Structures (ILMAS)”, financed by the EU in the Clean Sky program, Grant Agreement no: 338413. From January 2015 to November 2018, she has been the responsible of the Padova Unit in the EU project REINVEST, financed by EuropeAid/135-474/DD/ACT/IN with the title: “EU-India research and innovation partnership for efficient and sustainable freight transportation”. She collaborates with relevant international researchers and in particular with: Universität Jena (Germany, Prof. N. Boysen), Rutgers University (USA, Prof. H. Dolgui), Darmstadt University (Germany, Prof. Glock), Rotterdam School of Management (Netherlands, Prof. R. De Koster), ISAE-SUPAERO (France, Prof. O.Battaia). Since 2007 she started researches on Simulation Game and Learning Game design and in collaboration with other colleagues of the University of Padua, she developed the Logistc Game™, a new simulation game for learning by doing and knowledge sharing. The Logistic Game has been registered as a EU community trade mark from the University of Padova in 2009.
