IOP LAURA

Graduated in Medical Biotechnologies at the University of Padua (Italy) in 2005, Laura Iop earned the Ph.D. in Cardiovascular Sciences at the same University in 2010, focusing on stem cell-based treatments for myocardial infarction and heart valve tissue engineering. From 2010 to 2012, she performed post-doctoral research on cardiac disease modeling with patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells in the group of Molecular Cardiology at the Technical University of Munich (Germany). From 2012 to 2020, she was responsible for the Cardiovascular Regenerative Medicine Group at the University of Padua. From 2013 to 2017, she was an investigator in the Marie Curie Initial Training Network TECAS Project. Since 2016, she is an Assistant Professor at the University of Padua, before in Biotechnology and Methods in Laboratory Medicine (MED/46) and, then from 2019, in Applied Technical and Medical Sciences (MED/50). She holds National scientific qualifications for associate (2018) and full (2021) professorships in Sciences of Healthcare Providers and Applied Medical Technologies (06/N1). Her research topics are related to regenerative medicine, as well as to the development of in vitro pathophysiological models in order to provide innovative bioengineered solutions to cardiovascular diseases. She is the author of 47 publications (43 indexed) and of six book chapters. She is an editorial board member of the Journal of Cardiovascular Translational Research, as well as of the Stem Cell Research Section of Frontiers Health Journals. She serves as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed Journals in her field of expertise. Her current h-index is 18 with 1173 citations.
